Saturday Meanderings

The weather here sure doesn't speak of Christmas...it's more like beach wear...so we decided to Christmasy it up in the house with baking and cooking. I got this fab receipe from Pioneer Woman ...Cobbler...I had frozen cherries in the freezer so...hey ...Cherry Cobbler was the dish...and let me say...WOW ...delish!

I don't know if I have mentioned before "J" has special needs, so we pureed her Cobbler and she loved it!

Of course being the mother that I am...We had our main meal first..."M" refused to eat anything but Applesauce? I don't know ...but I believe the twos attitude has arrived..."J" loved her purred dinner!

On the 10th Day of Christmas....

I'm sooo excited...I finished up my shopping today and school holiday begins! I can now focus on wrapping, baking, and getting ingredients for Christmas Dinner. I love holidays ....family and warmth...the smell of food...people seem much kinder...ready for charity. I have lots of plans for the holidays...

Christmas Eve...lights at the Island, one present to open for each person, popcorn, homemade hot chocolate, a good snuggle with movie or book...and the Piece De Resistance...Prime Rib, homemade scallop potatoes, and asparagus...

Christmas Day...Santa Claus is coming to town...Turkey dinner and lots of play time with toys and grandparents!!!

10 more days....why don't we start a countdown? Tell me what are your plans for the holidays? Any special traditions?

Potty Secrets

My lovely soon to be two year old (Feb.) refuses to cooperate with the potty. I read the pamplet on "Is your child ready to potty train"...I believe I'm ready ...however my "M" has different ideas about what constitues ready. This morning as I'm sitting eating breakfast...I look over at "M" who is obviously "shoo shooing"....you can tell by the animated grunts and her all to telling facial expressions...I ask do you need to potty...answer UH UH..this means no...apparantly not since I could sniff the air for the already completed deed...so I have this lovely unused potty just sitting waiting for "M" to come calling.  I just can't believe using a potty is some how worse than walking around with soiled pants? Should I be concerned?
